About Us
Monica
I’m Monica, from Barcelona. I’ve spent the last few years working in a social impact scale up and travelling before deciding to embrace a slower pace of community life in the countryside.
I’m the social side of the project, the main point of contact for bookings, day-to-day activities, and your local guide if you need tips during your stay.
You’ll usually find me between books, practicing yoga, or chatting with guests. I love creating a warm, welcoming place where people can slow down, connect, and feel at home.
Carmen and Josep
Carmen and Josep are our neighbours. They have lived in La Fortesa all their lives and are always happy to share stories from the village’s past with you.
If you see them around, they help us to set up the rooms and keep on eye when we are not there.
On a walk around the village, you’ll often see Josep working in their beautiful garden and keeping the village nice and neat.
James
I’m James, half French and half English, and I grew up in the countryside. With a background in the arts and experience across different fields, I bring a creative and practical approach to the project.
I’m usually behind the scenes, building, fixing, and shaping the space as it evolves. Quiet by nature, I tend to connect with people more through action than words.
I’ll be the one welcoming you on your first tour, keeping the fire going, and organising BBQs or anything food-related. If it involves cooking or gathering around a table, I’m your guy.
Neli

Is the heart of community. She joined us when we first started the project. She loves being around guests and other dogs, and she’s always happy to say hello.
She’s very affectionate and is usually ready for a cuddle whenever you are.
The chickens

No need to say more, you’ll have to come and meet them for yourself, and of course, taste their delicious eggs!
